Default Travel Plans - Turkey and other fun travel

I leave Shanghai tonight on an overnighter to Munich, 6 hours lay over then down to Turkey. I won't be near the southern border thank god.... if your geography eludes you, turkey borders; Syria, Iraq, and Iran.. Geez.

The fun part!
Also, just got the word from my wife that we are cleared for our Xmas trip.. We won't come back to the US for the short holiday.. too hard on the kids,so we are staying close to our time zone.

4 days in Bangkok, and then 14 in Brisbane Australia.. We have flown through Bangkok on the way to Phuket, and we have also been through the Barrier reef area so these are return visits for us. the cool part will be the amusement parks in Australia and the off shore fishing near Brisbane (Pelagic Species !!!)

I found a fishing forum in that area and have been invited to fish with some locals already

Years ago, I spent Thanksgiving in Istanbul - talk about ironies! I found Turks to be warm, welcoming and curious, but without holding me responsible for political issues. I'd return there in an instant. If that's where you're going ... drench yourself in history. Don't miss the Hagia Sophia! There are few buildings in the world that are 1500 years old and still in use!

Missing Istanbul this run,, but will get there soon. We had a meeting planned there and we were to move to Izmir. The blokes from the UK decided to come into Izmir instead.

Nothing but good stuff from the Turks around me, and I am anxious to see the history too. I think Istanbul has the better sites.. canal to the black sea and the historical mosques etc..

what were you doing in Turkey?

We were passing through, but missed a connection so had to become impromptu tourists.
