Default Boat Insurance

Through which company does everyone get their boat insurance from?

I received my renewal from Sea Safe and they switched my policy to a different one, stating that they don't offer insurance for my type of boat anymore ( I have a 19' Jetcraft with an inboard jet).
Whenever they (other insurance companies) ask about the h.p. and hear it's over 300 h.p. they say they can't do it. I think they are misunderstanding what the boat is and think it's some type of race boat.

If anyone can give me some company names (and numbers would be great. ) I would greatly appreciate it.

I have used State Farm, Progressive, and now BoatUS. BoatUS has the best rates for the same coverage. I also have a 20' Jetcraft (one of the older ones). BoatUS is about 50% less than the others. Hope this helps.

I use the Boat Insurance Agency in Seattle phone 1-206-285-1350 and ask for Bill. I have my guide insurance with him and it is very reasonable for the amount of coverage I have, if your just looking for boat insurance I bet he can save you $ plus give you excellent coverage and service.

I looked at BoatUS because a lot of poeple said they were cheap. They were a lot less, BUT they would only insure my SeaSport for up to $20,000. Thats what their computer model said it was worth. They refused to negotiate a fair replacement value.

SeaSportDude, Call a Chubb agent (I use Accordia)about your SeaSport. They insure mine for full value and it's one of the best insurance companies (A++) there is. Not cheap, I just renewed for about $850 per year. No offshore mileage limit either.

I'm with State Farm... I'm sure it's not the cheapest, but has the coverage I want. Of special note to those going out on the ocean... be sure to check your policy for limitations as to how far offshore you have coverage.

This is an annual topic over on the Salty Dogs side... many have been surprised to learn their coverage did NOT extend as far as they were traveling.
