How tall should the dog house be??

My 12 year old daughter wants to build a dog house for aour 16 month old lab. The commercial crates are about 24-27 inches high, but she wants to make this dog house about 32 inches high, which I think is a waste of space.

What do you guys recommend for dimensions of a dog house to house a 55 pound female lab?

I wouldnt make it too tall. If she is going to be using it in the cold weather it wont stay as warm.

Yep, the larger the space, the more air needed to be warmed by the body temp of the dog. But that being said a 55 lb dog is big and probably wants a roomy grato. Not only that but labs don't have to much trouble staying warm. I don't think 32 inches is out of the question.
