New 04 K-fish (Pics)
After seeing Tilla's post about the new Kfish going on the shelf at Fishermen's I decided to go and "just look," too bad I got suckered(again.) Here are a few that I took a liking to, most are gone now, I wasn't able to get one of the new "Pacific watermelons."
They are, from left to right, California Watermelon, Cricket, Cherokee, Thumper, and the new Blue Fox, Foxee Fish. The Foxee Fish in intruiging to me, deep diving nose, holographic painting, notches in the side to better hold bait wraps, and an imbedded scent pad? Fishy? I think so. If you don't want to spend money, I'd keep my distance, these might catch fish, but I'm sure they'll catch fishermen. I'll probably end up buying a few more at the sportsmen show!

Re: New 04 K-fish (Pics)
The California Watermelon was my go to plug last year. I almost lost it the first trip of this year, but she was salvaged. Get those things wet and takes some pictures of what happens.

Re: New 04 K-fish (Pics)
Yeah Zaq, the watermelon wasn't actually one of today's purchase, but it's new to me for the 04 season, not a "this year's model" k-fish though. I think some of the other ones may have been bought through Bob's already last year too. I plan on getting them wet. Tight Lines, TOC.

Re: New 04 K-fish (Pics)
Just curious as to where you get the names of these kwikfish? I just bought some customs the other day and all I can find is the color on the package.

Re: New 04 K-fish (Pics)
Just got back with a Thumper, a Pacific Watermelon and a Cherokee in K15. The pacific watermelon looks just like the california, but with a blue back instead of green.
The picture of the Cherokee is somewhat deceptive, in the picture it looks like a red body, its actually metallic pink!
They are very cleaned out of these, but did have a few in K14 left at Delta Park as of 400pm. The folks at Fisherman's seemed to think they will have more at the Sportsman's show.

Re: New 04 K-fish (Pics)
Yeah Lured, I was going to say something about the Cherokee being much pinker, and even sexier in person. Did you pick up the Pacific k13 or did they put some 14s or 15s out after I left? Haha. Fish on- the eyes look about the same. At Joes I saw something called the extreme kwikfish I think, they said they had no reason for tuning because they had fixed eyes... I wasn't convinced, since some of the eyes weren't fixed straight. Phishin- the names of the kfish (if they have them) are right above the barcode, some are just colors not names. Also, if the product #s last set of four numbers starts with a five, it means that it's a custom kwiky! Luhr Jensen guy told me that last year at the Sportsmen's Show.

Re: New 04 K-fish (Pics)
Just got back from the Oregon City FMS. They have all the new colors, well stocked, in all sizes. The only exception is the California Watermelon, they only had that K13. Go get'em folks!! Let's hear some reports on how those new colors work. I really like that Cherokee, much better in person than photos. That Thumper looks like a springer part about to happen!!

Re: New 04 K-fish (Pics)
Hey Thumper how did you get one named after you?
The Watermelon should be # 3 !!
Some of these lures will definetly catch fisher people but will the fish "BUY" all of them?
Do they have any left?
TOCondition- thanks for sharing the cool pictures.

Overfishin; I think I will pick up #2 if I can find it. Have you been out in the Striper yet? Got any fish blood in it?

Re: New 04 K-fish (Pics)
Got my copy of the STS Cabela's catalog and saw the K-16X (X = extreme) that supposedly dives even deeper than the original big boy... down to 14 ft. They didn't show a picture of it, however.
By the sound of TOC's post, the K16X is built similar to the new K13's with fixed wire eyelets set into molded right and left halves (standard K14, K15, and K16 were molded with top and bottom halves). Although they say "no tuning required" I don't buy it.
Even if that were true for a naked plug, once you wrap it with a fillet, there's no guarantee that it's still perfectly balanced... unless of course you used a surgeon's micro-scalpel to precision-cut the fillet and a caliper to confirm it was applied dead center on the belly of the plug.

Re: New 04 K-fish (Pics)
Eye-Fish, yeah the K16X definetly wasn't doing it, I did look for a bit to see, I thought maybe if they had special colors I would have picked one up, but they just had the same old non-custom colors as the regulars.
Time-Off- Took the Striper out for the sturgeon derby... got some smelt blood in it. The few shakers that we caught obviously didn't spill any blood in the boat though. But it was a good maiden voyage for us, enjoyed the full top and the crafty plexi-glass insert! How's the new boat treating you?

Re: New 04 K-fish (Pics)
I've only been out once since Nov but the boat is great. A lot more tricky to maneuver it in tight places than the Striper. I'm hoping to get a few Springers this year in the Longview area. Maybe I will se you out there. Good luck to you and dad.

Re: New 04 K-fish (Pics)
The new X-16 is available at Bob's in Longview. They are molded like the K-13's but I think they have an exceptionally long shovel on their nose to help them dive deeper. Whatever...I'm pretty much zoned in on k-14 for all of my springer fishin. Add a couple #7 swivels and 3/0 Gami siwash single hooks and I am off to play!
The new Blue Fox flatfish knock-offs really look poor in my opinion. Dull colors, poor shape contours, poor molding seams, small hooks......ya, they'll probably be the hottest lure on the water!
GI Joes Kwikfish...Buy 3 get 1 Free! I picked up four more pretty ones yesterday, Green tiger stripes with a redhot butt. Just what I need...4 more flatfish!
