Default Grouse hunting in Central Oregon

Hey, we're heading over to Central Oregon for some R&R and I'm wondering where I might look for some grouse over there? The only time we've shot grouse was when we stumbled across them out elk hunting, and I've never really targeted them specifically for a hunt. Any suggestions?

We'll be in Sunriver, so anything from Madras to LaPine is cool. As far as what kind of grouse, blue and ruff both open Friday so my son and I will take either one if we can find them.

Work the creek bottoms, late morning & afternoon should be a good bet.

Yep, Grouse like gravel for their craw too, so if you can find an old logging road near water, that would be worth taking a stroll down too.

The blue grouse will be loading up on bugs too, Hoppers, & ants.

Look in sunny open spaces near Big timber (roost trees) in the morning... once they bust the roost, they like to gather and warm up in the sun in lieu of coffee and do-nuts.
