Default Steelhead Question/Idea....

I was looking through my trout fishing things today, when i found some powerbait balls, garlic marshmallows, and single salmon eggs.

Any of you guys every use it for Steelhead?

It seems like it wouldnt be a terrible idea to me considering they make garlic scent and jensen eggs, which resemble those. Thanks for any input!

FM8989-

I think there was an article in STS awhile back about using powerbait. I have heard of others who say they use it as well. That's all I know.

i do not know about the power bait however, the single eggs work great in low clear water conditions.

fm8989,a single jensen egg in low clear water is deadly, with or without yarn, keep the hook size small, also i've caught alot of steelhead using garlic scent,i won't trout fish without garlic powder in the boat,as far as powerbait,i've not had any experience on steelhead, but i know guys who have had luck with it,so don't hesitate to try any of these,i've seen fish caught on stranger things.keep your hooks sharp and your line tight

Me and my dad have hooked fish on all those with the exception of the garlic marshmallows, then we hooked a steelhead on a cheese mallow intstead.

They all have/and will catch steelhead. After all they are "just big dumb trout" but they will never beat good eggs.
