I don't know why, but going to the link from the weekly status report yields this note:

46089 - Bouy data failed 8/17/06.

We tend to take these for granted until they fail, let's hope this one gets fixed soon! The info from these is very vealuable to us, I look at 46050, well actually the data from it, several times most days.

Yes I agree the valueable info from the bouys has been a deciding factor for many trips that were otherwise questionable

I hope this one is back up sooner than later as it is the only one that gives a good offshore look see

I believe this bouy was damaged by vandals and the Coast Guard hasn't been able to repair it yet.

Vandals, you gotta be kidding! That's ridiculus! no point to it at all. No, I hope that isn't true. but as much as I hate to admit it, there are a few crazies out there, too many even though there's not really very many people that are that bad.

Vandals? Hmmmm... that's a long run for a dipstick that just wants to break things. I'd think the vandals would concentrate their efforts on your rig back at the ramp.

I guess what I'm thinking is that the guys who can run out far enough to damage a bouy are most likely the guys who would be counting on the data, not destroying it.

I guess the vandalism was done to the Yaquina bay bouy. My misstake. But I did hear something about the wind sensor going out on one of the bouys and the backup sensor failed also. Maybe this was on the bouy out of Garibaldi.
