Another e-collar training Q

Have any of ya’ll used the e-collar to staunch (i.e. holding point) on a birddog. I’m not talking about reinforcing steady (i.e. after the flush) but staunching the dog to stop creeping, busting you know the drill.

I’ve only used the e-collar on whoa (which is different then pointing, yes?) and come. I know the timing for these. I don’t use it on FF either, again hard for me to time spot on. My concern with an e-collar reinforcing pointing on birds is creating a blinking problem…yikes. I don’t think you can ever “fix” a blinker. If you use it to staunch do you use the belly strap technique or the traditional neck placement for bird work?

For me it’s just whoa and come and then not until 12 months of age; months of yard work so they REALLY know what whoa and come means.
