Well, I,m back from Tuna fishing at Westport. I went out on Sunday after getting up Saturday at 4 am to fish the Gig Harbor PSA derby with my girls Baily (13) and Skylar (8), who by the way took 1st and 3rd in the female youth division with a 17 and 16 pounders! I am very proud of them, they were troopers.
Got the call from my brother Jerry, via satelite phone, (above pics) and they told us that they were into the Tuna bigtime. That certainly changed my weather outlook. Got my guys together and after work saturday night, got to Westport at midnight, caught a few winks in the camper, then in the morning Todd and Chuck joined us and we were off. It wasn't too bad going out but it was quite sloppy at Tuna grounds. It took us four hours to go out to the spot that Jerry had fished, 60 degree water at about 60 miles out.We pulled clonesf for four hours of fishing time and then four hours of slowly treading in.
So thats what we call fun? We caught 26 Tuna in four hours and could have kept catching, but who needs more than that? We took 178 gallons of fuel and used 113 gallons of that.
It may be costly, but it's worth it to some of us, cause it's what we do!
