This will be my first time up there so I need a list of flies to tie up before I head up there please.

I've only fished it for the spring steelhead (April/May), but I can tell you that traditional fly fishing can be tough. We put 10# mono on our fly reels and drift fished a small yarn bug with a very small piece of pencil lead. You need to slow the drift down as it is fairly swift and nothing to slow it down otherwise. Not sure on the salmon though.

Subtlety,
I have fished it a few times for Silvers. Typically the last week in August to the first two weeks in September. My father in law runs Leonards landing and my sister-in-law runs the Glacier bear. The fishing report from Thurday was " The silvers are trickling in the Situk and there have not been any showing at the Ankau bridge. Any day now it should be hot." From the lower ramp follow the bear trails upriver for a few miles. You'll find some nice holes holding fish. Toughest challenge is keeping them out of the log jams. Wlso, when your there be sure to check out the Ankau's salty backwaters if you have a skiff. You can also flyfish out by the cemetary (upstream from the bridge on incoming tide) Silvers come on an any color egg sucking leech. I prefer the purple and pink combo. Take a variety of wieghted patterns. Floating line works fine. The run is late so it should be perfect when you arrive.

Egg sucking leechs
Krystal buggers
Alaskabou's
Big Black/Red/Pink
purple collared Flash fly

Never caught any on Wogs. Limits came too easy!

Dollies and pinks
Egg/globug patterns in assorted sizes and colors

If you have extra $$$ see if you can catch a jetboat trip the mouth of the Anklin for some awesome fishing. 170pp Last time I inquired.

Good luck!

I will thanks!

I just got back from a guides house up here in Arlington who guides for steelhead up there (The world famous Dennis Dickson) and he gave me a handful of flies to give a shot up there.
