Default Lock tite or not?

Was planning on using lock-tite (the removable kind) to mount my scope bases and rings, saw on the installation instructions that came with the bases where it said not to use it?

If done correctly it is not needed.

Use lock-tite on the base screws to prevent vibrations from loosening the screws. It is not needed on the ring screws.

I've mounted many of scopes on rifles in my day, and this is what works well.

I use the removeable type on my S&W 460 just to be on the safe side as the gun tends to rock and roll. I don't bother with it on the light recoil guns.

Some folks don't know the differant between Loctite products and so many scopes have been had the red permanant loctite used.......oh...wrong stuff to use.

The blue medium strength 242 Loctite is the stuff to use.
Use it on all screws and you will never have to worry.
Don't, and who knows. Trust me.

Every screw on a gun should get a dab of Blue Loctite, stock screws, trigger guard screws, all of them. Nothing is worse that having a screw come loose on a hunt and wonder the whole time if the is gun still sighted in.

A small bottle of 242 Loctite becomes pretty cheap at that point.
