Default Replacing Cable Boot

I've got to replace a cable boot on my boat. Has anyone tried the split cable boots that don't require disconnecting all the cables and lines? Or, bite the bullet and do the solid Boot install?

My advice, bite the bullet, take the time to do it right. If you don't, you will wish you had.

Are we talking control cable boot above the water? Can't seem to get the picture to download. I replaced two control cable boots on my boat with the split type that come with black zip ties to close them. As long as they're above the waterline, can't see where they would be a problem.
