Default Does anyone have a CR salmon report???

I fished last Tuesday out at the CR and it was kind of disappointing :depressed:. Warm water and lots of jellyfish :depressed:. How about Bouy 10? Thanks in advance.

We fished yesterday, fish are about 7 miles south of the CR in 250 to 280 depth water. Watch the wind, we were over the bar at 7 am, 5 to 7 ft on the bar, with wind waves about 2 ft. and about a mile visibility, the wind picked up around 10 am and we headed back in at noon, it was a pounding running north. We got four, should have had 6, lost 3 on broken tackle! I'm going through all my gear this week and retying everything. I've been losing echip flashers! I think sharks like them too much.

Anyway, we saw lots of nets flying and coho getting caught and they are big fish and we've only had two natives this year, otherwise all nice big hatchery fish.

Oh yeah, make sure you mark your tag when you catch your fish! Coast Guard is patrolling the buoy 14 area in a Zodiac and they came on board and checked our catch and tags being marked, very nice young man and very polite, and I'm glad we follow all the rules!

Water has been fairly cool and you need to find 55-57 degree water. We were out west of the CR in 340 feet of water Sunday and limited the boat. Big fish .

CR is ~ 200 and so deeper is a number of nautical
miles west. And, I believe, north, to intersect
the canyon.

More skilled captains are encouraged to correct
my assumptions.

My experience says that travelling south means
shallower waters.

350 FEET OF WATER IS ABOUT 6 MILES WEST OF CR, SO IT IS A LONGER RUN BUT THE FFISH ARE THERE.

Tjj is right, I believe we started trolling 3 miles past CR once we found 55 degree water and trolled out to about 5 to 6 miles. The water was 53 at CR. I sponser a fishing trip with Microsoft every summer for our clients and this last weekend was the trip. We chartered the Kati Marie and Rob always finds fish . We got 24 fish and one nice 23 pound chinook by noon.

Spoke with the fish checker in Ilwaco yesterday and the report is SLOW for the ocean and slower for the river. The gillnetters were out in force Monday night ****** the river of all life so the river will not be the place to go for a few days.

While running for tuna yesterday we found lots of ice water out there even 4 miles out from the CR. You have to look to find that warm water folks and right now it aint easy.

On sunday we limited the boat about 2 miles west of CR. Found fish right away and then lost them for a bit went back and finished filling the box in the same spot. Once you find them stay on them and it won't take you that long. Kept 6 coho above 10 pounds and caught and released a few wild ones. They are really big for this time of year I think.
