The day is mine Trabeck (for all you celebrity jeopardy fans). What a beautful day it turned out to be at the coast, wouldn't you all agree. I started out waking up at the crack of noon-thirty, although my body some how went into autopilot at about 6am and I ended up crabbing out in Nehalem. I certainly can't argue that one, it was quite a memorable day at that. I took my younger brother crabbing with me for the first time, and he got biggest crab of the day, it was a little soft, but had meat in all its legs. Meat worth taking out, mind you.
The sun was shining for me today or something though, while crabbing off a dock I happened to run across a retired vietnam vet who was a very avid fishermen from the great grey south, So. Cal., we got to talking for a while, sharing our fish stories (my biggest trout was 45lbs kinda stories

) and seeing how neither of us were doing too hot getting any keepers from the docks, we decided to go in 50/50 on renting a tin can with a motor. So, my new crabbing buddy and I set out into the great blue pond and dropped about 5 traps down to test the waters outside the dock, and we ended up doing pretty well out there, in a measly 3 hours, we got about 10 keepers, med-soft to full. All of them were worth keeping and slurping down for dinner. Anyways, the day was great, made a new friend, and got my younger brother into crabbing, can't go wrong with that kind of a day.
Hope to see you all out on the water, and remember. Your worst day of fishing is better then your best day of work. Keep your lines wet.
