WD-40

Interested to see what types of uses Ifishers have found for WD-40. To get things going, here are some I've found.

* Works great as a fish attractant (no surprise here).

* Removes pitch from your hands. Spray on, wipe off, wash with dish soap to remove the WD-40.

* Removes bumper sticker glue.

* Kills the daylights out of carpenter ants!

* Smooths out kinky line on spinning reels. Spray some right on the spool.

Gunwhale and Tray Rubber Cleaner

Gun Lube and lite Oil

Soak it on your Egg Gooe covered rods, rub off gooe.

Based on my own Scientifically Questionable stats; A Red X-5 Flatfish with WD will out fish a non-sprayed lure nearly 3 to 1.

Works as a sweet emergency hair gel if good lookin' fisher gals anchor close by. * Just gotta remember to keep my belly lower than the edge of the gunwhale.

Trout, I think WD40 left on mono may have the potential to weaken the line; if applied for storage after fishing. It is a solvent that could break down the polymers in the line? Have you had any line breakage probs with that? Just curious. ....

Mochatide, do women really care about how your hair and belly look out on the river? I think they might be offended by that shallow characterization? ... Nah, of course they care. It seems it's more important to them than our minds actually. How shallow is that? I just suck mine in real quick as they pass by ... then never see them again anyway . Why do we do that?!? I've never had a woman run over and tackle me and drag me home because I sucked in my gut.

They say you only need two tools, WD-40 to make stuff go and duct tape to make stuff not go !

Soak down the crab pots after use to minimize rust.

I've never had a problem with my line after spraying with WD, but then I change it fairly often. I believe the stuff contains shark oil or some type of natural oil. Anyhow, it makes the line softer and less likely to coil up on spinning reels. I don't use it on my baitcasters, but if I go out in the salt, I completely soak my ABUs with it and then rinse them off when I get home. WD isn't particularly good as a water repellent and rinses off easily.

As for the hair...I don't have that much left to risk. Probably would make it shine pretty good, though!

Use with an old athletic sock and make the graphite rods look new again. It even restores the color on the corks! Oh yeah, dont forget to give the reels a squirt too!

It mellows out cheap whisky and removes the stickon price tags and UPC codes that idiot store employees put on spoons and rods. It also works as starter fluid for cranky engines.

Has anyone tried Preparation H on their lures yet? You may be missing out .

Very important use is if you ever flood out your distrbuter it will disipatiate the water and allow you to start your engine. It really works.

RT, I gotta admit, there have been days that if I had Prep. H in the boat, my buddy's favorite hotshot would've gotten a dose of it, just before i stuffed it up his...sorry, sort of got carried away there. TM, I've never used WD-40 as flyline cleaner, I use Armor-All for that.

I use a wood furniture polish spray for graphite fishing rods. Think Loomis recommends this application.

Use WD40 to disapate water on whatever may rust.

CAUTION!!!
For all of you (including me) who love WD for all sorts of jobs, PLEASE remember that it is not only a solvent, but it is also a CARCINOGEN. That means that you should be careful not to inhale it when you spray it or get it on your hands! A carcinogen causes cancer, period.
Lets live longer to catch more fish and be careful with that stuff.

Good post by Oakie Drifter! I'm not real heavy on that end of things, but as another added caution...be extremely careful when spraying the stuff. While it's excellent for lots of things (and I've learned a couple of new ones from this topic), it sucks if you get it in your eyes!! Always spray downward and, especially, downwind!

Outside of that, it's quite an amazing tire cleaner!
