Did I miss anything this weekend??

We had the boat loaded with all the gear and were ready to head to Newport on Thursday afternoon. Because of the forcast we decided to postpone. Couldn't see spending several hundred dollars on fuel to watch the ocean roll from the bank. (We spent 4 days in the parking lot the weekend before last due to crummy weather.)

Now I'm sitting here just wondering if we missed anything. Did anyone get out for Tuna or Halibut?

Some boats got out early today for Halibut The winds cme up quick about 9am. Did see some boats with buts!

I keep waiting for someone to tell me that the ocean was ugly this weekend. That way I won't have to feel bad about staying home!

Oh well, we'll give it a shot in two weeks.

Ok, here it is, the Ocean was ugly.
I was on a charter, we caught about 20 tuna but everyone was sick. I'll create a post tomorrow. I just got home smell like tuna, and my head is still spinning.

Halibut were had. I had guests in town from CA, otherwise we would have scratched the mission. They made the run to the ranch Friday and Saturday, I only joined them on Saturday. It was sporty, but not unsafe. Vessel was a 2601 striper. Friday they even trolled for tuna for a few hours after limiting their halibut, but to no avail. Saturday, there was too much chop to think much about running for tuna for us. I saw quite a few boats with halibut Saturday, and a few with albacore on Friday night.

Crabbing in the bay was hot for softshells. Lots of folks with limits. We pulled very few that weren't fresh molts.

Basically NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO if you stayed at home more power to you, there was a few chickens caught but for the first of Summer Season just Chickens, tuna too far off, stayed in port and was glad I did, I can catch 35 to 40 inch halibut all year long, you only get 6 don't waste them till weather and water is better..............Ray

Well....a limit of Halibut and 25 Tuna after the fact up at CR! It waas bumpy but doable and we did 'er Saturday!

Just got done dealing with the fish...Ni..Ni...

Sunday ocean was very fishable limited on 5 buts, bite was on, My arm was sore from reeling in fish. Out of newport on doghouse what a hoot, done by 11 oclock wind was blowing close to beach outside was nice.
