Default Oregon Waterfowl Festival Roll Call

So who's going to be there?? Which days??

Mark your calenders for the 6th annual Oregon Waterfowl Festival, August 11,12,13, 2006. THIS WILL BE THE FESTIVAL’S BIGGEST AND BEST YEAR! We have moved to a great new location, Mitchell’s Sporting Clays in Gervais, Oregon. It is easy to find located halfway between Portland and Salem, along I-5.

Bring the Family and enjoy a fun-filled weekend. Some of the top names in the industry will be on hand to introduce you to the latest waterfowl products, they will conduct duck and goose calling clinics, seminars on better strategies, and give tips for the coming season. This year Shawn Stahl is joining us as our Master of Ceremonies. Joining him at the event will be Buck Gardner, Duck Calling Champion of Champions, 3-time World Champion John Stephens and Phil Robertson aka The Duck Commander!

NEW EVENTS JUST ADDED: One of the most spectacular dog competitions in the country today has signed to join our festival. You have watched it on OLN and now you can see it in person! The Super Retriever Series (SRS). It consists of the Super Fly and Super V dog jumping events and the Retriever Trials. This is the first time that SRS has moved to the West Coast and we are confident that this will add a great deal to our festival. Visit here for more info: http://www.superretrieverseries.com/

We have also added a 3 man sporting clay contest. Prizes and bragging rights are on the line for both Saturday and Sunday. So come out and get ready for the season or just shoot for fun and enjoy Mitchell’s beautiful Sporting Clays Course.

Other events planned for the weekend include: Lots of Kids event with prizes, Barbecues both Friday and Saturday evenings, the Boat/Blind contest, Decoy carving contest, Silent and Oral auctions, seminars, demonstrations, and more.

The vendor list includes: wildlife artists, call makers, decoy manufacturers, shotgun manufacturers, decoy carvers, retreiver trainers and breeders, boats, collectors and more.

Calling Contests:You can come out to hear the Northwest’s top duck and goose callers compete in calling contests throughout the weekend. The title of Oregon State Duck Calling Champion is on the line, with the winner representing Oregon at the World Duck Calling Championship in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Other contests include:

Oregon State Goose
$1,000 Open Goose
$1,000 Two-Man Goose
Novice Goose
$1,000 Columbia River Open Duck
Novice Duck and
$1,000 2-Man Duck
Pro/Am Duck
Pro/Am Goose
Jr.Duck (17 and younger)
Jr.Gooe (17 and younger)

For more information please visit our website at http://www.oregonwaterfowl.com

The Oregon Waterfowl Festival is a non-profit organization that is committed to creating and facilitating youth-oriented waterfowling opportunities, regional habitat improvement and overall enhancement of the waterfowling experience for all related interest groups. Required funding and supportive resources are raised through festival activities, sponsor donations and contributions from corporate and individual benefactors.

Let me know when the next Mack's catalog comes out that will let me personally hear Buck Gardner make a call sing or shake the hands of Buck, The Duck Commander, Shawn Stahl and Dave Smith let alone meet some of the best waterfowler's in the region. But other than that...no there is no reason.

There are going to be some cool events, cooler people, and should be a beautiful time of year to get out in the valley.

And, If you play your cards right, you just might be able to see my purebred mutt (Alex).

If you do come, bring some sandwiches for him.

sat down with Buck Gardner last year on Friday night at the BBQ. i don't recall that being offered in Mack's.

Also, you can usually get some really good buys in the Sportsmans Warehouse tent on sunday evening...too bad i won't be there on suday this year.

Friday and Saturday for me. probably get there early on Friday and see if they need help setting up. wasn't sure if i was going or not until just last week.

have beer....will travel.

The same reason that moves you to go outside and hunt instead of shopping for meat wrapped in cellophane.

With that line of thought, there's very little reason why anyone should ever leave their home.

I will be there Saturday to help out, hopefully, if I ever get any information on what I need to do and where/when I need to be there. I would love to come out Sunday as well if time permits.

Jim or anyone on the board, Please send info via PM or my email on what I will be doing and where/when. I have not received any info yet.

Saturday is for sure, Friday night and/or Sunday are still ???s

Anybody else glad that the OWF is later this year - closer to the actual opener(s)? The past few years with the June dates made it tough to get all fired up - only to wait another 90+ days for 'relief'!

Sixty-whut days till the Apocalypse?

Harry,

I apologize that we have not called you to get you lined out for the OWF. As you can guess, this is a major undertaking and we are working with only 5 or 6 guys who have stepped up to fully engage to pull this thing off. We have been dealing with so many MAJOR issues over the last week that some of the little things have fallen in the cracks. Please be flexible and patient on your very much appreciated offer to help out. I have sent you a PM with the contact info for the person who is organizing the volunteers...along with the many other things on his plate as we speak. I want to emphasize to all the ifish folks who are helping out this weekend just how much it is appreciated! CWH, jokester, Marshbum, SwampPuppy, DuckAddict, FeatherBusterOSU, Royal Limit, Get Bit, and all the people I forgot to mention that have committed to help out or have helped out along the way!Thank you very much!!!

See you this weekend.

Jim
