Default Fresh Figs!!!

The fig tree was given to me as a baptism gift when I was real young. It is over 25 years old and doing great. I love fruit trees but by far this one will always be my fav.

This is a banner year for figs...maybe the weather...maybe the tree is in it's prime . At any rate...I can't believe how many figs we have. This is the results of picking #2 (both of equal size).

No doubt there is at least 4 more pickings of this many figs or more to be had .

The dryer is homemade by Dad and is almost as old as the tree ...Can't eat all the fresh ones so we dry them for hunting season snacks!!

Thats a cool gift. I have about 300 trees that I planted when my kids were born. Its fun watching them both grow. I hope to be an old man sitting in the shade of some very large trees.

I've got two fig tree's in my backyard. They are dropping fruit like crazy this year. I cant keep up. A couple more weeks and that area wont be safe to walk in.

At any rate, it's excellent fruit that a lot of people have never tried.

I've never dried any of mine. How is it? It looks like you dry them with the rine on. Do you eat the dried rine or peel it off after its dried?

Nice. Our green figs (name is "Honey...something or other?)ripened about 3 weeks ago and the first crop is about done.

I picked two of the Brown Turkey figs this AM , but they needed a couple more days. So far I like the sweeter green variety much better.

Funny how well figs do around here, yet, they're almost totally overlooked when it comes to fruit trees.

weekender...I dry so much fruit...apples, peaches, pears, plums, and figs...not to mention lots of berries too. It would be too much work to take the skin off ...I just cut them into quarters.

They taste just fine with the skin on, and actually retain the original sweet flavor very well!!

The King... ...evergreen trees...you had me goin'.
