Default Seattle Trail Blazers

Doesn't that have a nice little ring to it. Soon as the lease is up so goes the blazers. Hope it doesn't happen but more than not my gut tells me so.

Sonics can't move for a few years, and Portland has a 20 year deal with the team.

I think if we make statements like that, we should provide a source for the information so we can get a sense of the reliability.

It's all over the internet, do a search. I belive they are locked until 2023 or 2025, and they do have a contract. The sonics are locked until 08 I belive.

Lead story on the news tonight is that Paul Allen has withdrawn the offer to sell the team.

you got it pete. FoxNW reported weeks ago before the sonic's sold that some thing was in the works up north leading to speculations the Blazers would move and leave Portland with the most high tech monster truck arena in the country.

this guys say's no way http://www.columbian.com/sports/loca...6news46533.cfm

I say way, if you watch WSOP long enough anything is possibile.

They stopped mattering a long time ago ... who really cares where they are. I just want them to make payments on their debt so it doesn't get added to my taxes.

I agree with that. Every one outside of Oregon knows Portland as "The home of the Jailblazer's". Can't really say much to dispute that.

As far as I'm concerned they can't go away fast enough Bunch of over paid gang members playing a stupid game and teaching our kids that laws don't matter. Just a way for filthy rich people to own other people and play games...Like any of us should really care BY BY!

What debt is that

Portland doesn't pick up any of the Blazer's bills.

There was some talk about the city contributing to the team financially (aka tax dollars) to avoid the team being sold. Havent heard anything else about it lately. It would be similar to the funding the city is throwing into the OHSU tram project. The hope is that the investment will pay a reward. On a different note, I am looking forward to the season. I think we have done a nice job of cleaning up the team. I still am waiting for a least one more player to go however. PS anyone beside me going to b10 tomorrow?

Part of this article from Oregonlive.com has good information on why the Blazers won't be leaving to Seattle anytime soon... FULL ARTICLE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Sonics have been purchased by a group based in Oklahoma City. There's bound to be a lot of talk today about a scenario involving the Blazers moving to Seattle someday, should the Sonics leave. But there's the matter of the Blazers' ironclad 20-year site agreement in Portland. And also, the cost of a new basketball arena in Seattle would be about $350 million, about three times what it would cost Allen to buy back the Rose Garden today.
If Paul Allen wants to move the Blazers he will pony up the money to buy out that contract with portland. What is a hundred million when you have 20 billion. It is play money.
It seems in the world of lawyers and high dollars, there is no such term as "locked"....hide and watch, you will see exactly what I am talking about.
The local govt can't afford to have all those parole officers out of work if the Blazers were to leave town.
Ripple effect.....
I went to my first game in a long long time last fall. Drexler played last time I went to a game. I have seen people play harder in a pickup game. Maybe their contracts need to have some incentives tied to it like if you don't win you don't get paid or if your name shows up in the paper talking about shooting it better be concerning the b-ball game not your weekend activities.
If you were in your 20's around the time the Trailblazers were making the finals and hung around the bars downtown, you'd know that a lot of the Blazers back then were not much better than their counterparts today as far as being role models. They just didn't get caught, or reported on.
I'm still a big fan and hope it turns around and we start winning. I don't care if they are good role models as long as we win, and they stay in PDX. I think it's cool to have the opportunity to see some of the best athletes in the world compete for at least 41 games a year.
Actually since it sounds like no-one here follows the blazers I can tell you that the only person on the team that deserves to be labeled a "jailblazer" is Darius Miles. Maybe Zach too but the rest of the players are young, hard working players with so far, good character. It's too bad this current batch of players have a bad rap they didn't earn.
