Tuna Tuesday w/ friends
All last week Bernie (Catch and Eat) kept calling, “Are you going Tuesday?” “Are you going Tuesday?” “Are you going Tuesday?” The forecast was a little iffy and I kept being non-committal. Finally, Saturday I said we are going to try.

I had promised “Bassin” a tuna trip after he had poured me 3 dozen lead headed jigs last spring. He said he was up for a tuna trip. “Kentucky Hog Hunter” well…we all know what a boat ho he is! He was in. And Terry H said he was looking for some more tuna too.

We loaded the big red “Drakkar” (ODIN) with ice and crew about 04:30 on Tuesday morning and started calling for Cool Cat. We kept calling Bernie but he didn’t answer. Then we finally saw him headed for the boat ramp about 5:00. With about a half an hour head start we headed out. Bernie caught us at the halibut hole and beat us to the tuna ground by about 15 minutes.

We boated the first fish of the day, but it wasn’t long until “Cool Cat” was ahead by a few. We finally got a couple of triples and some doubles and once we caught up to Bernie, there was no looking back.

Kentucky Hog Hunter was an animal!!!!! What a “Deck Manager”!!! He was landing fish, spiking fish, bleeding fish, gutting fish, chilling fish, and icing fish. All while showing the rest of the crew how to do what he was doing.

Cliff “Bassin” was jumping in right behind KHH, he and Terry H were masters on the light lined fish traps.

Terry H was throwing fish in the boat as if he were Sandy Kofax ( anyone over 50 knows who Sandy Kofax was). Those fish hit the deck and ricocheted into the coolers!

What a great day on the ocean!!! Lessons learned. New Friends!!! Dead Tuna!!!

As soon as KHH emails the pictures I will add them.
Bob

Bob I am so glad you guys decided to run. I really did not want to go without a good wingman out there and when you said let's do this I was more than pumped. Man Am I glad we decided to go too. What a great day out there and the fishing was a hoot to boot.
I think I might just do this thing called tuna fishing again.
Thanks to Odin and crew for being there.

Bernie, NO NO Thank you!!

You had the location down pat! With the SST and Chlorophyl overlay, you were spot on for catching them villainous Tunas.

Re: Tuna Tuesday w/ friends
As promised here are the pictures:
First we have "Bassin" (Cliff) attempting to land a very big tuna on a 30 year old surf rod.

Ah ODIN And Bassin with ragnar the Gaff in between. The skipper is applauding the fact that cliff is catching a tuna on a jig he made.

Here is "Bassin" with half the rod! That fish broke it off right above the old metal ferrul.

And Finally "Bassin" landing the fish with both pieces and a hand from the crew.
Here is a Picture of the Famous Terry H. Monitoring the rods and handlines. Did you ever wonder what Santa looked like when he shaved for his summer vacation? Hmmm I wonder...

Here is Kentucky Hog Hunter (Terry Luckett) Crankin' on the captains rod.

Terry and Cliff working a hand line.

KHH hard at work processing some fish.

Terry with one of his Silver Bullets.

And finally.....What happens when a crew works together!!

Thanks Men for a very...Very...Memorable Day!
Bob

What a great time Captain "Odin"
Bassin (Cliff) & Terry H were a great crew to fish with and the day could not have been better weather wise....
Bernie, it was great to fish along side of the "Cool Cat" as well....
So many good times and memories wraped up in one day....
Life is good.... Thanks again Bob for allowing me to spend time on a great boat with good folks

Re: Tuna Tuesday w/ friends
Awesome! great pic's So cliff after 30 years It took only 1 Tuna to break that rod? Now you have plenty of leverage with that shorter rod. How many more Tuna were you able to get in the 165qt cooler vrs. 150qt? The ocean look's nice...compared to Monday.

Re: Tuna Tuesday w/ friends
Now this is fishing at its best. Good friends, good seas and good fishing. Doesn't get much better than this . If I hadn't fished three days in a row I might have run again with all of you.
