Least Favorite Hunting Magazine and Why?
Well....we had the most favorite post so why not a least favorite post?
I am pretty limited on which magazines I'll subscribe to or read. I am not into "horn ****" fancy new gadgets or "techo cr*p". I hate magazines that have more ads than content. I don't really care for the 100 ATV ads in outdoor mags. (Ok maybe 9 or 10 ATV ads.) I appreciate good photos, good writing and content that makes me think about different things. But if a particular article stikes my fancy in a fish wrap I'll take a peeksy.

Re: Least Favorite Hunting Magazine and Why?
I am with you. I dont subscribe to too many hunting magazines, but try to keep my finger on what happening out there too. Being from the west, I can definitely say that I dont care for the magazines that promote whitetail hunting from cover to cover.
I enjoy looking at good antlers, but I will not subscribe to a magazine so I read about their so called hunt. Most of those bulls and bucks came with a price and then to glorify it as a backcountry hunt... whatever.
I'll have to think this one out so I dont step on too many toes.

Fishing and Hunting News, same ol' crapola year in and year out.
There is one around, I think it is called Outdoor Chronicles
by SMP Outdoors or something like that. It seems ok.....

Alot of them have a ton of whitetail hunting, while some people probably enjoy the articles, I just cannot relate.

Re: Least Favorite Hunting Magazine and Why?
My least favorite would have to be the NRA's magazine- American Hunter. Mostly because there is very little worthwhile content, but also I hate how they promote high-fence hunting.

Both Outdoor Life and Field & Stream have been very disappointing. I read them cover to cover as a kid but don't want my son reading them for all the Viagra ads.

Petersons Hunting is the largest circulation magazine that turns me off.
There is the Horn ****, Wacky Product Ads, & Product placement articles.
(I like the OHA and TeraditionalArchery Mags.)

Funny thing. I heard that an iFisher was on the cover of the latest F&H News this month. How bad can it be?

Ditto. i have a stack of about 5 years worth of these and i would be hard pressed to find 5 worthwhile (to me) articles in them. probably should just break down and toss them out.

Re: Least Favorite Hunting Magazine and Why?
Fish and hunting news is it still in circulation? I cancelled after it wrecked one our honey holes by posting a map it has happened to fishermen too worst rag ever... We were walking in about 2 and miles run into a guy. We started talking and we asked where he was from CA and then we asked him how found out about this area he pulls out a map from them.

anything with whitetail junk in it and/or "horn ****" from canned hunts...however, I like to look at nice bucks and bulls taken on public lands or DIY hunts.

Re: Least Favorite Hunting Magazine and Why?
Yep, had the same thing happen to our honey hole in Murderer's creek. We talked to the bio and he said after that article all the hunters flocked into that one small area of the unit. The bio said there is plenty of elk else where, but kinda of a bummer when you have hunted a area for 20 plus years to have to move because of that B.S. Doesn't really matter anyhow, things are so messed up now that we don't even apply for Murderer's creek any more.

Re: Least Favorite Hunting Magazine and Why?
Fishing & Hunting News seems to be trying hard and yet loosing their connection with their market.
I think their photo contest was such a success for such a long time that they coasted along neglecting to learn what hunters and fishers were interested in. Then there is the good spot ruined factor. Also the poor spot hyped as a great spot.
In the 70's they had a good cover artist who did origional acrylic works. I met him and learned he was paid about ... $40 or less per cover. I managed to have a painting I did of two bass used for a cover. Eventually they went to photo covers. Seemed they always had people wearing Fishing & Hunting News hats on the cover. It became very repetative. (Sort of like some of my posts on IFish.)

Re: Least Favorite Hunting Magazine and Why?
BlackPowder Hunting.
Every hunting story is a veiled advertisement for a product or outfitter. What a crock. And usually the page preceeding or following the story is an ad for that product.
Eastmans is top notch, both the bow hunting and rifle version.
But my favorite is still Bugle.
oh, forgot, this is the bad mag thread.
Did I mention Blackpowder hunting?

Anything that has whitetail hunting in it- And speaking of that... Just about every hunting show is about whitetails out of a tree stand. How boring can it get!!!

Re: Least Favorite Hunting Magazine and Why?
I subscribe to Bowhunter & Bowhunting World. A lot of whitetail crap, but what are ya gonna do? Bugle's my favorite, and I've got a new appreciation for F&H News even though the new cover has an ugly guy on it.
My least favorite: Petersen's Bowhunting. 2nd tier quality for sure.

There goes your spot although it is a good photo. I can't believe they are still in circulation. Did they ask for a map of your area when you subscribe...

Re: Least Favorite Hunting Magazine and Why?
I look forward to my Oregon Hunter Assoc Magazine.
I can careless about the white tail magazines/shows on TV. ("I shot a 12 point buck") Duh !
What cracks me up though are the TV shows where they sit in a tree house on stocked ranch, "We hunted hard all day" yeh right !
different strokes for different folks I guess , duh !

Can’t believe Fishing & Hunting News is still around?
52 years and going strong. Not only the longest publishing outdoor magazine in Oregon, but also the largest.
About a third of the cover shots are from ifish members.

Re: Least Favorite Hunting Magazine and Why?
hey Chetco...about your most recent cover. the duck season is 107 days long. not 105. thought you might want to know.
btw..yes, i understand that we close for 2 days to accomodate youth hunters. we give those up for the kids. 107 is 107 baby.
aside from that...i've got no problems with your mag. don't usually read it myself, but have been known to pick up a copy here and there.
