Default another newbie

Hi all:

I have been reading this board off and on for about 2mo. A fishin partner of mine turned me on to it and I realy enjoy the honesty and intellegence that is portrayed within these pages. It is refreshing to see a group of individuals who have the same respect for nature as I do (who would have thought there were others out there) Well I just wanted to say "HI" and warn everyone that I would be addin my $0.02 here and there. OH btw I can't remember your name but to the guys going sturgeon fishin in the columbia on the 29th if you go upstreem from kelly point there is a railroad bridge ancor 100 yards below it between the 3rd and 4th bridge support from the Oregon side. You should be right on the seem of the current. That is my honey hole and produces many oversized for me. Don't forget your sandshrimp and anise.. Peace to all and good fishing. Hope to get to fish with some of you soon..

Hello,

I am also new so I figured this is a good place to introduce myself also. I have been lurking for a while and I am also quite impressed with the patronage displayed in this community. I have picked up alot of good tips and hope that I can repay you members in one way shape or form. I also hope my $.02 will be welcome occasionally. Hope to see yall on the river sometime.

4u2fish, I hope you don't mind me riding on your coat tails here! {;-)>

Welcome aboard 4u2fish and Master Baiter! Thanks for the tip. I've seen Mike Lombard of 'Portland Fishing Adventures' there at your spot many times. He's pretty territorial so I just drive on by.

You probably already know about what sturgeon fishing and real estate have in common........ Location, Location, Location. Be careful about giving the exact locations away unless you are willing to get up at B.C.D. and get out there before the crowds. There are a lot of lurkers out there who look for the hot tip but have nothing to add to the board.

You'll see me out there at Kelley Point (Church of the bent Rod) on any given day I have off. White on Blue 19' Bayliner trihull, Says 'Pilar' on the side and back.
Sometimes a big blue flag on the radio antenna and lots of standing up, yanking and cranking!\\

The bend is your friend!

Ya I hear ya abot pps who look for the hot tip with nothing to give back but we all were there at one point or another. As far as givin my honey hole away I have only ever seen 1 other person in there and they were out in the current. I for one am not afraid of telling others what I do where I go and what I use. Even with the knowledge you still have to be able to catch teh fish there.

Let me give you a for instance: About 1 mounth ago my friend; lets just call him LOKI (he will know who is writeing this when he reads it) told me about the cutthroats on the necanicum and how to catch them and where to catch them (his honey hole) so off I go with my fly gear in hand and all of the patterns that he said work for him.

Two other gentelmen were fishing just downstreem from me with bait. They had been there every Thanksgiving for years (nice guys)and local to the area.

Salmon were jumping so close to us the one guy almost lost his skin as he bent down to retrieve something from his box of goodies.

Cutthroats were jumping all over and I was getting strikes but NEVEER a hookset. I couldn't catch a thing.

My point is that you may know where to be and when to be there but you still have to put in the time to catch the fish. You can't learn a place by being told to fish there.

I love to fish and I love to help others to enjoy fishing. If my buddy says to me I will show you my favorite places but you must keep them quite I will do that but in this case I spent my time on my fish finder to hunt out the bottom and discover the fish (noone showed me this spot). I feel like it is mine to tell to anyone I feel.

I know that you already know of it and I DO NOT intend to step on any guides toes here (they have the right to make a liveing also) but I will not skip fishing my hole because someone is there I would rather anchor/wade at a distance that would be of mutual aggreement to each.

I just love to fish -- sorry

Good 'tude 4u2fish! Thanks for sharing. As for you MB, if we meet sometime let me put on my gloves first before we shake hands . ... Hey Pilar, on those rare days you aren't catching fish do you put up a white flag in place of the blue one? - RT
