Default Ifish goes sturgeon fishing?

Well I finally got that ifish sticker to stick to my boat. I'll be out on the Columbia tomorrow with a few friends lookin' for big daddy or his little brother. Any one care to join us? The Steelies are slow and I'm thinking the best buckled rod can be found by T-6 in the Kelley Point area. See you on the river.

Hey Barnyard. Is there a legit boat ramp near Kelley Point? We used to launch in the park itself, but that one has been closed for several years. All of the boat ramps are 6 to 7 miles away. They include, St Johns (Cathedral Park), Freds Marina, Larsons Marina, 42nd St. and Portco. Of all the above the only one I like is Portco.

The 3 on the Willamette have problems. Mainly that the river is full of wood and trash to beat your boat on. Fred's has an attitude, haven't been there, except to use their bathroom, in 5 years. Cathedral Park has car break in problems. Larsons is good, but their boat ramp is 4 wheel drive only. That leaves the police ramp at 42nd St. on Marine drive, they charge for launch or Portco in Vancouver, free. This is also known as Marine Park. The old Kaiser liberty shipyard is nearby. It's on Columbia House road off Highway 14.

The bend is your friend!

PS: If there is a closer one, tell me more. I always end up running 20 minutes in the dark to get there first. And running home the same way!

They just reopened the rebuilt ramp on Sauvies Island. The ramp is on Ferry road which is about 2 miles down river from the Sauvies bridge. Good ramp and your rig should be safe.

Hey Barnyard! Don't need it, your OR or WA license works anywhere on the Columbia River. This is because it is the border between OR and WA. True at Buoy 10 and true at the church of the bent rod at Kelley Point. I agree though, Marine Park is my choice everytime.

I have been using Fred's for the last couple years, since vandels discovered the St. Johns Bridge Launch, no troubles thou it can be kind of tight if the water's low... Is the ramp on SI on the Channel side? Fished the area all day on Tuesday - 3 shakers no other bites all day... would be interested to hear how you do as I want to go again on Saturday. thanks. zip

The ramp by Vancouver lake is easy to find.
Off I-5 take 4Th Plain exit and go west. After 1.5 miles you pass a Kwick-Mart gas station at Fruit valley road....If you need a donut or coffee....stop here because this is last everything. 5 more miles straight ahead and you see Frenchmans bar park and in 1 more mile a lagoon with house boats and ramp is on your left just past them.
If you need more detail let me know. When you launch...go slow and away from the house boats ....down river to get out of the channel. Once outside go left up river for a couple miles past the ships at anchor and you are there. Tide turns about 08:30 tomorrow.....suggest you launch by 08:00 and you will catch the turn just right.
