Saterday the 5th of Aug CR Tuna run...
Hello all
after spending a relaxing week in the islands up north wacking the crabs and enjoying my time off it is time to get busy. After reading the last post from the weekend it would be an understatment to say that I have to make a run.
So if there are any other boats running out of the CR early this Sat for Tuna/Halibut it would be nice to buddy boat out for saftey.
Let me know I will be heading out of Ilwaco as early as the tide and weather allow.

Miss B Haven will be headed out of Warrenton with Minaki for the HaliTuna. Ditto on that forecast. Looks about like the one last weekend at this time and the water was just fine come the Weekend (yes- hopefull thinking :tongue . At least the wind/swell is coming from pretty much the same direction. I hate that W swell/N Wind Wave wash tub.
Worst case is the river opens up and we can waste a day trolling around for some Red Meat!

Re: Saterday the 5th of Aug CR Tuna run...
I am planning a Friday run and than at least Hali on Sat but most likely Halicore on Sat depending on where the long fins are. Will not leave before daylight. Beware, you have to watch out for Miss B, Mel may take you places where man has never gone before.
My max combo is 10 combined but prefer less than 8. It is only a forecast at this time and hope it eases off.
There will be a couple other dogs runnin I am sure depending on the weather. You ever been out of the CR before?

Re: Saterday the 5th of Aug CR Tuna run...
the weather is being watched no doubt. we put up with more waves for Halibut in the spring off of la push so those will be our limits. i just hope the waves and the wind are from the same direction. last time out they were a bit off and the comfort level was getting worse.

Re: Saterday the 5th of Aug CR Tuna run...
Forecast is still NW swell and Wind North. Thats as close to the same direction as it ever gets around here. Good news is the Wind backed off 5 knots and WW 2 feet. I'll take another foot of swell ANY DAY over 2 added feet of WW. THe period on the swell is what will make or break and they ain't talkin' about that yet (and wont' till Friday). I expect mid range (9-10) nt ogood, not bad. Second good news is when it's out of the North, the CR is usually the lesser of evils for S Wash/N. Oregon stretch). Forecast range (200 miles) starts up here. The fetch gets longer as you head South. WW may be negligable (not that 2 feet is a real problem- but it could be zero North).
I'm going for it- gimmee the hairy eyeball!

Mel, you sure you remember how to cross the bar up here brother? It's been awhile. It will be nice to have you back out there my friend.
Mel is the first person to take me tuna fishing off the CR folks and I credit both him and Kamloops for my affliction addition to the tuna fish'n. Kamloops got me hooked on the halibut also. You boys cost me a lot of money! Thank you!
I'm in for Halbutcore as of now. 2 and 8 is the prediction so I think that would be a go for me. Watching the weather for now.

Bernie
thanks for the information yesterday and job well done. my boat is a go as we have spent more days rolling around for halibut up in lapush and it seems that the trend might be a bit better than it was early in the week.

Re: Saterday the 5th of Aug CR Tuna run...
Maybe around 5:30am or so Depending on how the weather turns out. 2 and 8 predicted with 15 knot wind is gonna be a bit lumpy but should still be fishable. Hairy eyeball time.
