Big Creek/Gnat Creek

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post to this forum. I've been working in California for 3 years, plus I didn't get very many chances to chase fish when I was in college, so I haven't gone after a winter steehead in 7 or 8 years. Needless to say, I've got the fever.

So is anyone catching anything out of Big Creek or Gnat Creek? If so, what kind of bait - eggs, shrimp, your own secret formula that no steelie can pass up?

I'll be out there on 1-1-2001 no matter what the reports are. See you there!

Welcome to Ifish Chase. I'm hoping for your sake that there will be another significant rain before 1/1 or those 2 creeks will be quite low. Well, if there isn't enough water in these creeks its not too far to the Nehalem. I like fishing the creeks and smaller rivers better because I can read the water better.

Fresh eggs in the riffles. Hit the head of those small holes, they are hiding under that bubbly white stuff. These Big Creek fish are surging up, water or no water. Good Luck!!!
