I gotta know!
What fishing stuff did everyone get for Christmas? I know, it's little premature, but when you do open, come tell me! I would love to read through a list of all the goodies!!!!!
Fish too, if you fish on Christmas!

Re: I gotta know!
Bill and I got each other something. It came the other day. They came in a long circular tube and say G Loomis on it. I wonder what the heck???? Have any ideas? Hee hee
We aren't going to open them till Christmas day.
I kind of get the feeling that I may have some other rather fishy things there. OH! David bought us some corkies and lures! We opened one present just a bit ago.
Maybe we will open the tube one later tonight.
I'll let you know what it/they are... Wink wink nod nod.

Re: I gotta know!
It's Christmas morning here in Singapore and Santa was nice but the stuff is mostly for my saltwater addiction. New Bogagrips, 25 Mann's Stretch 10's-25's, 30 white bucktail jigs, 12 Rapala Risto Raps and Super Shad Raps and 1000 yards of Fireline 14lb in fluoro green. A couple weeks ago I took delivery of a TH custom Muskie rod which works so well for barramundi that I keep straightening out the 4x hooks as I horse them in.
Closer to steelhead country are a handful of Mortac spoon bodies to assemble plus 25 Rainbow Jigs.
Time to start flattening barbs, changing split rings and sharpening hooks.

Re: I gotta know!
In years past I would usually exchange the fishing items my family would get me. They are not fishers. We do lots of other family things together but a nice gift for me would be if any of them could get interested in fishing in more than just the middle 3 hours of nice sunny days. If your family members like to get after salmon and steelhead with you that is a gift! - RT

Re: I gotta know!
Well my youngest son got me a $50 gift certificate to Fisherman's Outdoor so it was burning a hole in my pocket and off I went to Hayden Meadows. After selecting an assortment of hooks, corkies, spin glos along with some wool gloves and wader socks I took it all up to the cash register to check out.
The clerk scanned the gift card and told me that it didn't register!!!!!! He called over his manager who told me that there was nothing he could do about it and I would have to take it up with the corporate office.
His attitude really stunk and I left in a huff. As I was driving home I decided to call them and express my dis-satisfaction about their service and the girl I was talking to suggested my son stole the gift card which are located throughout the store.
She took down my phone# and told me that the main office would be in touch with me. My question is is this typical of Fishermans? I doubt that I will doing much business with them again.

You mean a shooting table as in the likes of a tide table for fishing? To tell you when you can hunt? For Christmas???
Huh!

I got an anchor system for my drift boat from my brother in-law Nick. I knew he had to have some redeeming quality that my sister saw in him, it just took 12 years to find out what it was.

I FINALLY got a decent Gortex fishing coat that (hopefully) doesn't soak up water like a sponge like my old one used to. Guidewear from Cabelas. Got a good shoulder workout on rainy days carrying around that extra 30 lbs, though.
Merry Christmas!

Re: I gotta know!
Steve, I have to agree with you on the fishing with family post. When my wife went with me for the first time earlier this week, it made my whole day. After X-mas I hope to take my son out and play at the river for the day. To me that is worth more than anything. Merry Christmas to everyone.

Re: I gotta know!
Fishing lure display cabinet (I collect old lures), couple of fishing how-to videos for my library, box of no longer available Wiggle Warts and a 3-D fishing game for 'ol one-eye here (when I'm not on Ifish!).
Share RT's sentiments on the family. I have also seen guys on the river and lake at daylight with their wives sharing the fishing. Mine has never been into that and she ended up with Fibromyalzia a couple years ago so will likely never get into it. We still go to the lake on sunny days and she enjoys that as do I. So guys, when you have to release anchor for nature's call for your wife or girlfriend, smile and do it! She's the best "buddy" you can have.

I'm having two custom built rods made, 7 weight fly rod blanks tied for spinning reels so I can side drift bait. A great technique that I've used alot in southern Orgegon but rarely see anyone doing on the northern coast.

Books. New edition of 'Fishing in Oregon', one on Brown Trout fly fishing that looks good, and another ... appears to be fish stories, haven't looked at it much. And Travis the singing Trout, yes.

Re: I gotta know!
As far as fishing related, I got another 5501 reel. A mad bomber rabbit lined hat (elmer fudd style) from Cabelas for those cold days on the river. Might look like a Dork, but hey I will be warm.
And I found the video camera (size of a walnut) I wanted in my stocking for my wanted underwater camera. Now to just make a waterproof case, work out the electonics, experiment with the hydraulics to make the camera case troll properly, find a 12 volt TV and recorder, and all the other things that will drive me crazy making this thing work well.
