Default When will the Wilson be fishable?

O.K. The river is blown for now, when will it be back in shape? Pretend we won't get any really heavy rain for the next week. What day do you think the river will be good to have a chance at some fish? RW

Hi RW. In that scenario I would say that it will fish well this Tuesday &/or Wednesday. Or Thurday . Since it has had a few earlier small freshets to wash off much of the looser topsoil, and will be coming down from close to 8 ft. on a slow drop, it will likely start to fish decently as it drops into the mid 6's on the guage. It will fish better as it drops into the upper 5's and lower, so a good day would be to go when the river is dropping to around the 6' mark the night before; with no heavy rain forecast of course. With a forecast of a stretch of dry days coming soon, there should be no shortage of fish, or fishers. When the river is at about this level and there are a lot of boats, I like to augment fishing the obvious good holes by fishing shallower runs and pockets that others often miss; and the fish should be on the move thru them. - Steve
