So how does one go at getting your own sandshrimp?

You pump them?

Where at, ocean beaches?

Sounds like it might bebetter than the storebought kind, and you know them big sturgeon just love em.

Need to find a mudflat at low tide. Also need a shrimp gun. Usually, they call them clam guns. About a 4 foot piece of PVC sealed at one end with a handle on it and a small hole in the cap. Go out on the flat, stuff it down in the sand, put your thumb over the hole and pull up the "plug". Release your thumb and dump it out and you should have shrimp if you're in the right area. Stay close to the wetter areas near water. If you get into them, you can pump a coffee can full in about a half hour.

Bottle of "Doan's Pills" for your back and you're good to go fishing!

The best shrimping is done on sand flats. Sand Shrimp live in sand, not mud. If you are trying to pump sand shrimp in mud, you'll probably find mud shrimp which is an excellent sturgeon bait.

The best sand flats are accessed by boat at low tide since sand along the shore mixes with mud. Some of the best sand flats are continuosly commercial harvested for bait. You'll recognize the commercial people by boats with a motorized pump and one hose in the water and another hose stuck in the sand above water line. They just scoop the shrimp into 5 gallon buckets.

best of luck,

hook
