Default Little Nestucca

I took my 8-year old to Three Rivers today, but there were more people than fish, so we went over to the Little Nestucca. What a pretty little stream! We saw a couple of chrome bright steelhead, but didn't hook any. He hooked a large, dark salmon that took him for quite the ride before it broke off. I'm glad it did because I don't think he would have understood that it would be better to let it go and finish spawning. He'd never hooked a salmon before. I guess you have to start somewhere. We had lunch, then just walked up and down the bank, taking pictures and enjoying the river, didn't feel like fishing anymore. No fish tagged, but a great day nonetheless.

A day on the river with a kid whether it’s your son OR daughter or some friends kids is always a good day fishing. Even better that he was able to hook into a fish.
