Pipe Cleaners Anyone???
What Goes Around Comes Around.
First thanks to all the fisherman & fisherladies for sharing their fishing tips and methods for success.
Here is a tip that I hope will become popular because it works and is cheap to try - two important criteria for most of us.
During my annual salmon outing for Up River Brights I tried out pipe cleaners on my spinners and had good results. So I thought I would pass along my NEW Technique to see what the other folks on IFish thought.
Cost: 100 pipe cleaners $3 dollars
Pipe cleaners are a tough piece of flexible wire that come in a variety of colors and can be wrapped around any hook - single & treble - a stay in place....
Plus they hold scents very well...
Take a look and see if this catches your eye...
Share some options and hope this helps put a few more in the boat.
Good Fishing....

Re: Pipe Cleaners Anyone???
Does this method work well for steelhead also? Looks like a good setup I never would have thought of it.

Re: Pipe Cleaners Anyone???
Man I had forgotten about pipe cleaners. I used to use them on just a bare hook. It adds just a smidge of extra weight. Works real good in faster water. They hold scent good too.

Re: Pipe Cleaners Anyone???
Use them on your kwiks, warts, and hot shots to hold scent. I also place red ones on the front treble of my bassin' crankbaits; make sure that the action isn't disrupted.

Re: Pipe Cleaners Anyone???
Last fall I used plain pipe cleaners wrapped around the shank of treble hooks to hold scent. It worked pretty good. I'll have to try colored ones for the visual effect.

Re: Pipe Cleaners Anyone???
What a great idea. Just went to Freddies and found the "pipe cleaners" on the craft aisle. They're called "chenille stems" in the craft area. I probably could have found some cheaper at a craft store, but I was there. Picked up a variety pack (black/green/white/pink/red/orange/yellow) with 100 12 inch long "cleaners" for $2.99. I figure it's close to a lifetime supply. This idea is exactly why Ifish is the best.

Re: Pipe Cleaners Anyone???
Hit up the Dollar Tree in Damascus, and off to the river I go.
Only question is... Don't they rust?
Now I just need lower river levels, oh yeah, and time off!

Re: Pipe Cleaners Anyone???
Good Morning, All:
How are you installing these? Are you threading them up to hook "nightcrawler" style...or wrapping them around the shank?

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">I usually just insert them through the eye of the hook and wrap both ends around till I get to the bottom of the shank - again this little piece of wire is flexible and seems to work like a champ. You might even try tails with the two ends for different effects.
And if anyone that tries this method finds a great combination please shoot me a PM and let me know - In the mean time I will take some more pictures tonight of some other lures I've put the pipe cleaners too and post tomorrow.
Happy Monday Morning...
