No Springer Retention above I-5?
After posting on the plunking thread I looked at the '04' regs for Salmon and there is no dates for January-May for Salmon retention.
I don't fish there and was wondering is this the norm?
Is it strickly a catch and release fishery for Springers up there?
Seems like it would limit the traffic and leave some bank room open for C&R

I think that's the "make it up as you go along" section of the river. They post the regs for the season as it gets near. Right?

Riverkeeper, you're correct.
The same go's for farther up river as well, seasons for Wind River, Drano Lake, Klickitat River etc. are all set in February.

Re: No Springer Retention above I-5?
As I understand it, Feb 5th is the meeting for retention on that section of the river.

Re: No Springer Retention above I-5?
The allocation was announced today announcement
The Columbia River Compact hearing on February 5th will provide the public an opportunity to comment on the structure of the season and the decision will be announced shortly thereafter. By structure, I mean, where and/or when there will be closures. This year's run is expecte to be over 85% 4 year old fish, which return later in the season. The river will be higher and cooler, which will also move the peak of the run later into the spring than last year. I don't think we'll need to see much in the way of closures to ensure a fishery through the month of April, but we'll see. Options for managing impact are days-a-week closure above I-5, full closure above I-5 and full river restrictions. We'll know soon what we're looking at.
