Default Efficiency!

This is a photo of my buddy Allen.

I took him and his wife and their little grand daughter out for a big boat tour of the area where they got a house.

It was about a 20 mile loop all toghether, and we were able to do it on only 3 and 3/4 gallons of gas!

I love how efficient that boat motor is, but I think that the hull has a good deal to do with it too, it goes on plane at about 13 mph, and i think that low plane speed means that we dont have to plow water to move, so we get great milage!

The combination of a motor that sipps gas, and a very efficient hull... man, I keep doing doubletakes at the gas station.

I knew that a 4 stroke would get better milage than my old 2 stroke, but the trip I took yesterday would have burned about 10 gallons in the 2 stk set up i used to have.

The coolest part of the trip was that it was Allen's granddaughter's very fist boat ride.

Pretty great day in my book.

The boat is a Duckwater stealth Fighter, but I had them add some stuff to it (if you look at the shadow of the boat in the photo) you can see how it has "Pods" on the side.

This will give me a place to kill the Halibut and Tuna without bringing them into the boat.

It will also give old Alex the Duckhound a place to wait for the birds to fall.

There is only 1 other boat of this kind in our region, and it does not have the pods on it.

I think those pods are why it planes up so fast... it doesn't draft s much either.

A 17 foot tuna chaser, that I have to see. She sure looks like it would be fun killing ducks out of her.

Doug, I would say no. But what do I know.

So the pods are what stick aft from the transom? Bob... I agree regarding Tuna, but it looks like versatile inshore boat, no?

The transom is 17 feet, but with the extensions... probably closer to 19 feet.

Not sure..

I ought to measure it.

Just Joking about the Tuna... but she is very sea worthy for her size.

I think that boat would work rather well north of Seattle chasing sea ducks. Me, my dog the fish net and one rather large heater plus my good buddy Mr. Black Talon would do rather nicely in that boat. Forgot I would have to bring Mr. Talon's 25 good buddies from Federal.

Ha ha.

Good to have plenty of buddies.

I want to get hat boat out for sea ducks on Willapa and Maybe up By Sequim.

We will have to see what materializes.

Duckboy - Go to the USA/Canadian border than hang a left and chase those long tailed ducks plus that other prized waterfowl.. You know the one where you are allowed one or two pre season. Great hunting for a few of those ducks you never see down here.

You can sneak across the bar on a good day from the looks of it, no problem. TUNA! would be pushing it with that paint job, a camo pattern of flo orange, red, chartruese and yellow would make it easier for SAR to find you when you call.

Been running the heck out of my livingston 12' with a 9.9 honda due to the 15gpm + mpg. Sure reduces the gas packin'! Going to a remote steer 25 honda for a bit more speed, expecting 30ish WOT vs the current 17 or so. Hope to remain around 15 mpg at cruise.

Time for me to take some more days off for messin with my bigger boats, the ocean is softly calling.

Haa.

Don't tempt me, as an "artist" I have about 500 gallons of differnt colored paints.

I could do a Jackson Pollock style Paintjob... using Yellows and Oranges and Whites and Crimson red.

That might be kind of cool.

If I could get one of you Crazy Ifish Tuna men to Waterski behind the seabeast.... at 50 miles west of port. That would be quite something.

I'd love to take the bastage out on a day that would allow that sort of rambunctious foolishness...

Not sure if that day really exists.

Probably not...

If I could arrange a chaperone craft to Tag along with to the tuna area... We could give it a go... I could just stay within 300 meteres.
