Geocaching?
Does any other ifishers play at this game? My wife and I are new to it, we have been doing it just a few months, and yesterday, put out our first cache.
It's been pretty fun, and taken us some places we have never been. Any advice on neat caches to visit is appreciated as well.

Re: Geocaching?
If you like coffee, you can do the Bobs Redmill in Milwaukie, when you find the cache they have coupons for a free coffee.
We have found all the ones in our area, and most of them in Tillamook.
When you feel real energetic I will give you some numbers to a cache we hid up in the cascades, about 4 - 5 mile walk and a couple thousand feet of vertical. The last mile is miserable

Re: Geocaching?
I just bought my GPS last week and have managed to locate a couple of geocaches close to my home. Since I too am new to the game I don't have any great coordinates for caches. I would be interested in caches only accessible by boat. I don't want to hijack your thread, but if anyone has numbers for boat in only caches I would appreciate it.

Re: Geocaching?
A coworker of mine put one in a crab pot in Depot Bay a few years back. It was gone in about 2 weeks . And yes,,, I like to take my boys out to find new ones in my general location (Gaston/Hagg Lake)..BH

Re: Geocaching?
We've done a few, like everything else it's hard to find the time. We were in MT and WY the last week of June and wanted to get some there but forgot all about it with everything else going on until we were headed home. :depressed:

Re: Geocaching?
There are a few boat in caches around Sauvie/Scapoose bay, but I think they are canoe/kayak type access. I haven't visited any yet.
Crab pot with an ammo can is a great idea for a submerged cache, but you would have to put it pretty far off the beaten path or it would get run over/destroyed pretty fast. I have a couple old crab pots. Hmmmm.

Re: Geocaching?
Kurt, I have been doing this with my son for years.
Good fun.
Stop by and drink a cold one and we can talk all about it.

Re: Geocaching?
I have looked for a couple in the council crest area with my girlfriend. We found our first one on the first try! It is fun and a good way to enjoy being outside with the girlfriend. It is amazing how many there are around the portland area! You do get some funny looks when you are digging around in the bushes looking for the "treasure"!
Geocaching
this is the one I found
