Re: We treed a bear!
Nice pics. Is it the distance or does the bear look small? Just wondering if momma was around. Anyways good pics and also enjoyed the scouting camera pics.

Nice pics! What a thrill to get to see that. Bet that made for a good day in the woods. The kids got a good eye.

Nice work...I've heard humans can tree cougs and bear by running after them barking like a bunch of dogs.......looks like in this case you didn't need to make a sound!!

It's a small bear, I guessed it might go 100 lbs if that. I had the boys stay back as I moved down toward the tree, just in case there was a sow in the neighborhood. After seeing that the coast was clear, I had the boys come on down for a good look.
It's always fun to see wildlife when the kids are along, especially something they don't see every day around home.

Re: We treed a bear!
You can allways look at the size of the ears in relation to the head. Big ears = small bear, small ears = big bear.

Re: We treed a bear!
Two more weeks and I'll open bear season here at the house. I left this morning at 4:30am, my wife left at 6:15am, and sometime between 6:15 and 9am a bear raided our garbage again! He drug a sack of garbage out thru a trail the boys have cut in the brush and scattered it everywhere. The boys got it cleaned up before I got home, but we went out back and found a small hind track in a patch of dust. The rear pad was 6" long and 3.75" wide.
That's the second time in the last month he's come in to the house. Thought he'd go back down in the canyon when the berries got ripe. Hope he doesn't continue to be a pest!
