So Long, Dad
I no longer post here too often, I do not accept Churchianity, but merely wanted to share that a Christian who was a person you all would have liked has moved on, he died un-expectently at home, he is with the wife of 54 yrs whom he adored, now he will know the truth, one way or another. He was far from perfect, but loved his wife, supported his family in the best way he could. He gave to me a love of life, fishing, and hunting, an apreciation for the right's we possess as American's, he was a WW2 vet, a good man. His last week here, I was able to share storie's of how well I was doing in the Estuary, 4 keeper's vac packed and smoked, not a bit of waste, Dad...like you taught me, I think you would be proud. So long, Dad, you alway's have a seat in my boat. I love you...Ken.

Ken:
Please accept my condolences on the passing of your father. It is obvious that he did many things in his life that had a positive impact on yours. May he rest in peace, and you to cherish in memory the good times that were shared with him.

Re: So Long, Dad
Feisty...I can relate, my friend I lost my Dad 4 years ago
He was 82 and my Hero forever, My heart goes out to you and never forget that The bond you have with your dad will stay with you just as long as you keep his memory alive in your mind and in your heart.
He will always be your Dad and you will always be his son. Take comfort in knowing that, in a very real sense, your dad is very much here with you now, wherever you are. His spirit and his memory live on in you because you are so very much a part of him. When you really think about it, in many ways you are more inseparable now than you were before, because you are not limited by space and time and distance.
When I think about my Dad now I mainly smile, and just think about Good times, and with your dad My Honor goes out to him in a special way because he was a WWII Vet and , in my opinion a member of the "Greatest Generation"
Lord Bless you my friend

Re: So Long, Dad
Ken.....
I hope you view my words in the same vein I offer them...sometimes, a hard request in this format, as we can't look into each others eyes, as we share our heart and souls
Your Dad has passed from this life as we all must, and according to the will of God. I know, from our brief exchange, your Dad has set a true and straight foundation upon which your life rest.....
However, that is only part of his legacy. You need to continue on in his name, of all that is right and just, so his teachings and relationship live on, passed to the next generation.....forever.
Think of it as an old fishing lure, carved of wood, and hand painted, with all its imperfections. Especially when compared to the mass produced items we now deploy, all in the name of progress and technology. Remember to take that lure out occasionally, toss it into the churning and frothing waters we find in today's world, and give it a bit of action. It will, just like the day the man carved it, produce results.
With a grin on your face, and a feeling of deep gratitude, so deep, its hard to convey.....
Restore that lure back into the tackle box, to be protected and cherished, for these gifts are becoming harder, and harder to find in today's world. You never need lose the fact that your Dad will always be with you, sitting in his own slot in that tackle box of Kens life, just waiting for you to cast your need to him, once again...
Take care amigo
