HELP!! DA Brothers...Intervention Needed!!!

so, i'm sort of bored at work...i've been doing nothing but reading about duck hunting and talking about duck hunting all day. (i work with my 2 hunting buddies)

so i did it...i was surfing around the Wing Supply web site looking to replace my Winduk from last year when i bought this.

(link is not to a buying site...but simply a product info site. i think that is ok here...sorry in advance if i am wrong.)

it will take a few minor modifications to make it huntworthy...but it is just what i needed. (i knew i needed it as soon as i saw it...lol)

Headhunter..Daffyblaster. could you imagine what carnage would have taken place that first part of the morning when all those mallards were piling in on us..only to flare off at sunup for lack of suitable cover. not in this puppy. we would have stayed RIGHT THERE.

please DA brothers...intervene before i go too far. it really needs some 'killer weed' to cover it up....and a side mounted enclosed dog platform would allow me to fit a 3rd hunter in it.

Sweeeeeet!

I was thinking about one of those the other week for hunting SI, but out there it would have been even better! There was plenty of grass for dressing it, too! And it looks like it would be roomy enough for at least 3 hunters.

Save the killer weed for a boat or layout, though. Natural stuff found in the area would work better.

thats kewl...I also have been checking those out for the last few years....is that the only camo pattern it comes in?.....I would just use the natural vegitation to cover it up a little...cabelas has a bunch of them and there not that spendy

That would have been considered market hunting with that thing! Did you really buy that? What kind of modifications do you think it needs? I would think a few layout blinds would do the trick and you could use them for geese too.

I guess the water wasnt deep when you were there?

actually, it was dry when we were there...hence the reason we were there. (yeah...fine. we got stuck ok? you got it out of me. lol.)

on a +3 low tide i should have been able to creep up into the place...but the river was running low and a normal +3 was more like a zero. by the time we figured out we weren't making it in...we weren't making it out either.

no big deal really..we just ditched the boat where it sat and went off to hunt anyway.

as for the modifications. i will be "installing" flip back tops on it so we can stand up to shoot out of it as well as shoot out forward.

the hunter orange patches have to go! go!! GO!!

it will be grassed with a combination of killer weed type stuff along with natural vegataion for the area i'm hunting.

a door for the dog to enter/leave.

the stakes will need about 18 inches of card attached up and to the side of the blind so i can pull them up without having to reach down into a foot of water.

and maybe a wet bar and breakfast buffet....

I've thought about getting one of those babies too. Seems like just the ticket to be able to create instant "cover". Just a little aritficial grass would break it up nicely, and then the real stuff would make it dissapear.

Not sure I would want to pack another 20 lbs out too far on Sauvie, but there are lots of places where this thing would be awesome.

yup...i bought it with 3 specific places in mind. if i never used it anywhere else...it won't matter a bit.

the places i mentioned are un-huntable without bringing in some sort of blind...and i won't build one there because then the whole world would be beating a path to it. but with it...i'll never need to hunt anywhere else.

My uncle has a couple panel blinds from Fishermans Marine that work real well. They are intended to form a box with ope top, but we just left them straight and put on in front and one behind. Works very good once grassed.

But I also found my 14" Fiskers hatchet works real well too! I hope some of the willow I crammed in the mud sprouts into new trees.
