Default Clackamas is slow...

I waded the Clackamas yesterday in hopes of an early steelhead. I was fishing just up from the Gladstone bridge and saw zero caught.

I checked at Meldrum bar to see how the plunkers were doing. Nothing going on there either. I figure it will be another week or so before I bother to hit it again. Some rain will help!

Thanks for the update. My son has been bugging the heck out of me to take him out to try the Clackamas again. With working two jobs myself, I just haven't had time or the energy. Now at least I can pass the information on to him and he won't feel like we are missing all the fish. We usually fish higher on the river. He's hoping for his first Steelie this year.
Rain please hurry...

CZ and Luv, while the first good push of winter steelhead on the coastal rivers usually is around a week to 10 days into December, the Clack usually gets it's first good push (by Clack standards of a weak run anyway - should be better this year though) a week or so later around the 15th to 20th. The hat runs peak from there to late January. In these dry conditions I suggest concentrating in the lower river. When we get some good rains later this month the fish will spread on up river. Good luck! - RT
