The thing about tuna is they have tails and they know how to use them.

The pay SST shows a lot of warm water getting a lot closer than last week. The Cholorophyl charts make it looks like the blue water may not have come with it, but there is a lot of cloud cover on those charts to peek thru.

I think there are tuna at the 45/125 line like you mention, I just dont know if they are in numbers sufficient to fish for

If I was going to the ranch, I would have tuna gear on board and do some prospecting, your already there, might as well do some fishing.

Thanks BOE. Any rough estimate for how much farther that is from the ranch??

I know there are fish out of Tillamook at 125.10 x 45.35, the ranch is considerably south of that and East.

RonM got into fish from Newport, but I have seen no numbers on how far he had to run to get them. I think he is back out fishing today, and somebody else posted he got tuna yesterday but no fish count or where

It looks like to me, there are fish at least as far south as 45.20 out beyond the 125 line and who knows how much south or closer with the warmer water on the latest SST

There are several websites you can plug in GPS numbers and it will calculate the distance between them (google it up).

FYI,Google Earth is a handy tool for calculating distances. It is free and pretty easy to use. It's also useful when looking and land based info. The satelite pictures are very cool. It also does 3-D and you can rotate the horizon so you can see elevation.
