Halibut in Nehalem Bay ????
Last week my friend sent me a fax of a clipping from a newspaper (I think it was the Hillsboro Argus). The clipping was a picture of a guy next to this very big halibut. Here is what the caption for the picture said:
"Joseph John Provinzano of Bay City caught this hefty halibut off Paradise Cove, outside Wheeler, the morning of Sept. 16. This fish weighed in at 174 pounds and was 72 inches long. Most halibut caught in this area average around 40-50 pounds."
I am reading this right? I had no idea there were 40-50 pound halibut in Nehalem Bay, much less a 174 pound fish. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks!
Dave
