Default HELP: Inflammatory Bowel Disease in our Lab

The vet has diagnosed our 14 month old black female lab with inflammatory bowel disease. She's lost about 12 pounds in the last three months; down to about 48 pounds.

Does anyone know anything about this condition so I can understand it better?

They've placed her on a special kind of dog food to reduce the possibility of a food allergy, and they said to give her a couple of cups of yogurt twice per day.

Any help you all could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have no personal experience with it but this seems to cover the condition pretty well...

Have any of you iFishers had their dogs on corticosteroids and is that a good treatment for IBD?

My Buddy's dog "Buddy" Was diagnosed with Meningitis about a year ago (as a pup) He has had that dog on WHoppping doses of Prednisone for Over a year.

They tapered him off, and he got worse, etc. Pooor Chessie is such a good dog, I'd like to see him get better soon.

The owner has spared no expense in the treatment of the dog, had it to Neurospecialists, and all that jazz.

Buddy is a swell dog, hope he eventually gets better.
