Default Dream set-up from eBay

The last couple of fishing trips I went on I was able to use my new Loomis IMX rod and my Shimano Calcutta 151 reel that I got on eBay really cheap (new in the box) The rod is 9 ft moderate action 6-10 lb. test line. It's without a doubt the best rod reel set-up I have had in 20 years since I built a Lamiglas from a kit they offered back then.Anyone who doesn't search ebay for tackle deals is missing out. I have found great deals on restorable ABU Ambassaduers and recently got a new Fenwick HMG rod for about half price. Check out eBay for great tackle deals but before you buy check with me first just in case I want it

bigstew - ditto in all respects. I use the same combination for small river steelhead. For big rivers, I put on my 251 Calcutta but use the same rod. Some feel that the 1082 is too small for big river, winter steelhead. I completely disagree. I love the feel.

Likewise agree about e-bay values. You can get a good Calcutta for around $100. I have also met a great guy on e-bay who builds custom Loomis rods. He does excellent work.

I also have been working e-bay for the last few years. I collect books on steelhead and found a number of out of print books. Also picked up 3 brand new Shimano Bantam 50's for the plug rods for $60.00 each.

There isn't enough time in my life to use all the crap I have bought from that site. Thinking about my grand kids and I don't have kids

Hey Jig do you have "How to Catch Steelhead" by Alec Merriman? It was the first steelhead book I ever bought way back in 1973. The author is from B.C. and the book is quite humourous with great cartoon illustrations.
I presently have three copies of it for sharing with friends.

Bigstew,
Your gonna fall in love with that rod. I built one earlier this year and it has made a huge difference in how many fish I have hooked up. It will handle big fish!!! I have hooked and landed nooks' on the Nisqually and big Dogs on the Satsop with mine. The only problem I have with e bay is there is to much good stuff to bid on and not enough time to do it!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff
