Re: Who fished sturg today
I took one of the kids and Kodiakfisher out to fish in the snow. Fished the Columbia below KP. Not a stellar day but Kodika came home with a nice 43 incher. We measured one more,39 I thik we ended up boating 25 or so for the day.
SNOWED ALL DAY.

Re: Who fished sturg today
Didn't even have a bite. :depressed: We launched in ridgefield and quit around 12:30. Went to start the boat and the battery died had someone jump start it and when we got to the boatramp we couldn't get out with all the snow. There was about six inches so we left the boat at the dock for the night.

Good to hear someone braved the weather, And caught some fish. I just did not want to tow the boat and risk someone smashing my baby. I guess i may have to risk it tommorow. Great job Small fry. Thanks for the report. Todd

Re: Who fished sturg today
Fished out of St. Helens with Kwik Karl and a couple of friends . We didn't even get a bite. We had about 10-15 boat around and only saw 2 shakers on , not a good day.

Re: Who fished sturg today
we fished below kelly point , started about 8.30 am and stopped at 3.30 it snowed all day . we had some great fun - 30 shakers for 2 rods and the new heater worked great.Seen about 15 other boats that had to get out for the first sturgeon trip of the year. we used smelt and shrimp oil.
happy new year

Re: Who fished sturg today
My buddy and I fished just up from kelley point... Lots of snow and lots of shakers...landed 41 fish...1 keeper, 45" and 3 that were in the 39 to 41" range.
Catch of the day (other than the keeper) was a 40incher that came into the boat with a whole carp (or some carp like variety) maybe 6" still hanging out of his mouth... the bait nestled next to it. Quite strange....

Re: Who fished sturg today
Do good intentions count? It's tradition for me to fish somewhere on New Years day. But with the weather and sick with a cold I didn't make it.
some one once told me, you can't get old and be a ***** too. guess I didn't listen too well.

Re: Who fished sturg today
Fished off Catepillar Island. Ramp was a little dicey, froze our a*% off for eight hours. Was nice to be out the first day of the year. Came home with a nice fat 43" and lots of shakers.

Re: Who fished sturg today
Well, I and two fishing partners from work were foolish enough to head out on New Years Day. Original plans were to head up to the Fishery. We bagged those plans the day before and planned to launch from Camas and boat on up. Well, we got to Camas at 7:00 and there was no way we were going to try to launch and retrieve on that steep, icy ramp.
So we braved the nasty 25 mph-30 mph ride back down to Marine Park and launched from there to go fish the Kelly Point area. Visibility on the river was not so hot, especially with the windows fogging. Oh yeah, toss in forgetting to put in the boat plug and the subsequent dewatering and one of the guys getting too close to the heater and almost catching himself on fire and not getting a line in the water until almost 9:30 and we had a pretty interesting start to the New Year.
At least we caught some fish. They were all nice fat shakers and few were in the 36-38 inch range, maybe 15 fish between the three of us.
It was fun getting out on New Years Day AND having all of the snow. It made for a memorable outing, even if we didn't get anything for the smoker. The ride home was mainly sloppy. There were a few slippery spots, but we took our time and gave everyone lots of room.
