Default N. Fk. Nehalem report

I drifted from the hatchery to Jim Eriksons place yesterday. I was flyfishing and my buddy was gear fishing. Neither one of us touched a fish all day. Water was 35". We talked to a couple of guys who had each lost one. There is a tree down across the river about a mile below the hatchery. We were able to get under it but it would be tough in higher water. Funny thing happened....we were eating lunch and looking at the water when we suddenly realized that the water had gone from about five feet of visibility to less than two feet...just like that! It never rained once on us yesterday. I figure there must have been a slide somewhere or a thunderstorm higher up. The river cleared up by the time we got to Jims.

Hey Marty, we finally had a huge day after so many slow ones. Mark and I hammered the fish big time up one of the coastal rivers. E-mail me if you want to take your wife bankfishing. No buddies though . I can't put the info out here, to honor friend's wishes; and principles. - RT

We caught 3 steelhead and 1 chinook today. The water was really low (34" at 8:00 and dropping). We got lucky I think today not much pressure and a few willing biters, and I stress a few! good luck to those who venture out this weekend!!!!FM

Same thing happened on the Wilson and I imagine Trask and Kilchis too, I was supposed to take cureless on a trip, and I cancelled because I felt it was getting too clear. I went and looked at it (the Wilson) yesterday and today, (shouldn't have) because it was beautiful! Sorry Mike!

Way too many boats on it today though! Unless we get that so called for rain, it's going to be clear tomorrow, at this time it's not raining in Tillamook.
