Default Alsea River @Waldport-- advice sought..

Hello All:

I will be staying with family over the 4th of July on the river, west of the bridge, where the Alsea hits the Pacific, and am wondering what I might cast out in the Alsea, and what I might actually fool into taking a bite?

I will be casting from shore; might a bobber/bait combo be an option, or spinners/flashing lures (size/color/depth?)

Any and all advice sought!

Thanks,

I have clammed and crabbed that bay, so if you're thinking of doing any of that, PM me and I can give you some advice.

Sorry I can't help on the swimming animals.

Use a salmon for bait and catch a seal. Keep all you want.

There are very few critters swimming in the Alsea currently, except for lost baitfish or two, and maybe a couple of trout. As for fishing in the bay, it would be a nice day of fishing, but not catching. You are better off to head north to Seal Rock and toss a herring, or some sandshrimp off the rocks and try to get a rockfish. You could also head up the river and try to get a couple of trout at Eckman Lake. Good luck with whatever you do.
