Re: TUNA TIME...1st Timer on Friday
Skein,
Well, first off it's my fishing partners boat. We fish together all the time, and I currently have a 20' sled, so we figured there was no point for either of us to duplicate the others ride. He bought the North River so we could take advantage of the offshore gig. The boat is 22' with a 250 horse Yamaha and a T8 kicker. We put on a Lowrance 111 GPS/Depth Finder, VHF radio, and we have hand held back ups for both. We have two Air Ride seats up front, with benchs behind, although we are talking about replacing the bench seats with coolers with seat cushions on top. There is a ton of storage under the bow, so the seat box/coolers would give us more room for fish.
As for me, I grew up fishing offshore in South Texas. We chased King Mackerel, Bonita (Little Tunny or False Albacore), Jack Crevalle, Amberjacks, and other great fish. I had never given the Oregon offshore fishing much thought until hearing more and more rummors about a Albacore Sportfishery. I spend alot of my time chasing Steelhead and Salmon when I am not working, but I have been Jonesing for the Deep Blue. I do run my sled out when its nice, but of course I never run far, and spend the majority of that time in the Tillamook Bubble.
By God, just being out there this weekend will be great. The fishing will be fantastic...just hope to fill that in with a tad bit of catching!
John
