Default Nestucca river levels

It seems like the gauge on the Nestucca runs a little higher than the old one, is this true? I like fishing there when it is between 4.4 and 4.8. Someone told me the new gauge runs about .5ft. higher, is this true?

Default Re: Nestucca river levels

Rags,

It's true, with the old guaging staion washed away last Thanksgiving (1999) the USGS installed a new one upriver from the old one a few hundred yards. It took them quite awhile to get it up and running. They probably tried to correlate the two, but a half a foot is pretty close. So, if you're used to the old river level readings you'll need to have a reading of 4.9 to 5.3 to fish your preferred water.
