I added some pictures of gum boots just for some added incentive for you yankee boys.

Here is the link.

Hey, I recognize those boots CP! Those are fish we C&R'd down here and then they were collected in a fishweir and flown up in live wells to Terrace Airport, and trucked around your region for recyling into your skimpy rivers . Did ya catch any with a black and chartruse with Krystalflash jig inside it's mouth, with my name painted on the jighead?

All the jigs had Steve's name on them. I'm still trying to contact this guy. He forgot to pinch his barb and residual salmon spawn was still on the hook.

Nice pictures CP. I never knew the Kitimat had so many fish.

The Kitimat is loaded with summer runs. They seem to stay much brighter than those Skeena boots. I think they fight harder in the Kitimat too.

The easiest way to find Steve would be to follow the marabou trail along the beach. It is sure to lead you to a bunch of funny talking short rods. They will probably be busy attempting to float fish so it should be no problem to slip up right beside him.

"gum boot"
? ? ?

etymology, please.

Looks like a "rainbow" to me. A "steelhead" I guess.

Hey your reel's getting wet. EH?

There are four phases to steelhead coloration. Each progresses the longer the fish stays in fresh water.

Bar chrome is phase 1. Not a mark below the lateral line and some chrome scales above the lateral line.

Colored is phase 2. Cheeks are rosy on hen fish and the sides are not clean anymore. The males show a red stripe and sometimes a pink belly.

Boot or Black Barts phase 3. Red stripe often green coloration. Sometimes males turn black. Fins are marked. Hooked jaws in males.

Kelts or mended kelts are phase 4. Often called snake fish. Will jump a lot and then are reeled right in. Can vary from chrome to booty. Have had liposuction on their bellies but the loose skin remains.

Hey CP, I notice it says 'chromer' under your Centerpin moniker in the upper left of your posts. ... hmmm ... your cheeks looked kinda rosy to me in your pics. And don't show your jealousy about my short fishing rods . You know what I mean . You should see my surfperch rod

RT,

I imagine your surf rod would be a great spring rod. It would also improve your confidence by holding such a large stick in your hands before going to work. I know it does wonders for me.
