I am not one of the "Major Players", but I am looking forward to participating for several days during the outing. Whatever dates the "MP"s chhose will be fine with me.

I should be able to make it whenever you plan it. Especially if its after the 12th of November. I probably wouldn't make it during thanksgiving, but should be able to make it before that. Can't wait.

the trip for some of us may be 10 to 14 days total, covering two weekends. the real decision is which two weekends, can we get the most ifishers there.

I would show up after thanksgiving (friday PM probably), but I couldn't make it before that. If people are just getting out of an elk hunt on the 12th, I don't know if they are going to be able to get out by the 17th, so I'm thinking after that. But, if they are up for it, I'm up for it too

Maybe go out on Thanksgiving weekend and stay for a week after?

Pretty much any time after that works for me too except for Christmas and possibly new years.

Well, now that we have established when everyone can come, and how long they're staying, and what time of day they are going to arrive, and what their dog's name is,

Why don't we set some official period, and everyone will most likely show up somewhere along that time-frame.

Just my

Baltz...thanks for setting this up and all the work that you have put in on this. Im sure the guys very much appreciate it as I do. However I do have a question for you. Pan Fry and many others asked a very logical question and you keep giving a smartass answer of 8 hours away. Why do you get your kicks of lording this information over the very people you are soliciting to make the trip?

Perhaps people are looking to wrap other vacation time around this trip and need to plan the logistics? Perhaps people want to buy the GPS software or USFS maps for safety reasons? Perhaps they just want to tell their wives where they will be spending some time with a bunch of strangers they met online who happen to own guns? People have very good & valid reasons to ask the question....I don't get it? What’s the big deal?

the reason for the vague answer on the location, is to minimize the internet spread of the location, when we get there, we do not want the hills covered in camps. plus if you pm me, i will tell you where we are going.

Baltz,

Thanks for setting me straight! That’s a good and fair reason for keeping the area under wraps! It’s nice to know if people did truly want to know...you would discreetly inform them. Keep up the good work and I look forward to a great hunt.

Due to family, work, and school commitments, anything prior to Thanksgiving is out for me. Once the bird is served and the dishes are done, I can head out. The friday of Thanksgiving weekend would would be a good day to head out for me.

You know that you're not going to please everyone. Hey-- it's your show all the way.
When you release the dates and location of the "bird hunting event of the year", anybody who is serious about going will somehow find the time to show up.
You may as well do what you want to do, 'cause you're going to do what you want to anyway.

After reviewing the thread, it looks like thanksgiving weekend and the weekend after that are going to work for most people.

Just a suggestion.

I don't want to be the one to ruin the surprise, but if I had to guess, and I do, I would say we are waiting on one guy, named Mark, who once showed us a spot, who also just went to AK for a week+, who also just started a charter company, and may be a little busy at the moment.

I'm not saying we're waiting for your imput Mark, I'm just saying .

Just kidding man. But can you make it just after T-Day?

Sure, those weekends will work for me. I'll be teaching again then and won't be able to do much more than the weekend, but, I'll try and make that work. Oh, and the dog's name is "Vader."

Jasper (my dog..) and I can make it on the weekends anytime your talking about, and would love to go at least one weekend, maybe both. Earlier is better though, as December progresses the ducks start showing up.

I think another thing we should set up is a carpool thread. If my directions were right, theres over 700 miles total driving. I think if we can get 4 or 5 guys in a car/Van/ Ext.Cab truck, all the passengers can pay for gas so the driver won't have to, since they are putting all the mileage on their cars.

Just another suggestion.

Especially if we have several groups from, Portland, Salem, Bend ... It sounds like a really good idea for the folks making the trip on the weekends.

So can we pick a timeframe? Maybe? Just a little one, nothing big or final. I'm itchin to get this set in stone.

I put two boxes of #6 shot through my new gun today, performed flawlessly, and the action was super smooth.
Blew up some soda cans and gatorade bottles filled with rocks and thrown in the air. Pretty fun, but clay is always better.

Say Chris, I like your version of subtle. If only my wife would throw those kind of hints.....

Thanksgiving and the following weekend should be good. I've been going through chukar deprivation for some time now.

Just out of curiosity, have you and Richard been practicing yet? Sporting clays are great for lowering the shell/bird ratio. Maybe someone could set up a couple ifish SC shoots!

I'd second that ifish clay shooting. I don't want a bunch of guys 8 hours from home missing most of the birds.
OK, nevermind........... I don't want to be 8 hours from home and missing most of the birds

I'm working on the shooting, but I don't think I'm going to be winning any buckles any time soon. I sure as heck better be lowering the shells/bird ratio though.

all the major players have ok'd the plan, thanksgiving weekend and the following weekend. my plan is to set up my camp on the 22nd then stay till the 3rd of december. 12 days. if we get a large snow in sunriver, i'll be leaving my camp, for a couple days to plow then coming back. just 4 1/2 months to go

Great! I'll check Vacation schedules at work, then either request my days off, or start developing the symptoms for a long term, slow developing illness.
Now that the dates are set, the overwhelming anticipation can begin.
Thanks Baltz526 for your energies spent on this
