Big Game processor in Prineville Area?
Ok I know it may seem like I am jumping the gun but I am looking for a game processor in the Prineville madras Redmond area where I can take my pronghorn if I get one this August. Everything I have read said get it hanging in a cooler ASAP so I am looking for a good one over in the area I am hunting then I can just drive back out and pick the meat up when it is cut and packaged. Thanks rp

Cinder Butte in Redmond did my antelope last year. Really clean lockers. They make really good pepperoni. Anteloperoni and cold beer is hard to beat!!!!

Get your self 150 Quart Cooler and a Fillet knife. Cut the back legs and front legs off put them inside of the cavity. Fill the cooler with ice about half way and then add water. Drain the water and add Rock Salt. Then top the cooler off with ice. This will get you by for about 3 to 5 days.

I've always heard good things about Cinder Butte, but have never used them, so I have to throw my hat in the ring for Independant in Prineville.

Re: Big Game processor in Prineville Area?
I took my 82 year old father in laws deer in to Cinder Butte last year. He wanted everything except the backstraps and tenderlions ground for sausage as it's easier from him to cook. Unfortunately, a chunk of bone got in the grindings and the whole batch was full of bone slivers. The folks there were really nice about it and offered to give him the same amount in pork or beef sausage. He declined the offer and they offered to give him the sausage and all of his money back. He was pretty upset as he doesn't know how many more deer seasons he has left under his belt and he hated to have the meat go to waste.
Mistakes happen when the deer are flying in and they did the right thing. Fortunately we drew deer tags again this year so hopefully we'll be able to get him into another.
I'd go back to Cinder Butte again.

I have used Cinder Butte for the last few years and have been very impressed. I would also second getting a big cooler and packing it on ice as fast as possible. In the Ochoco unit you are about 1 to 1.5 hours away. Good luck with the speed goat.
