Default Looking for a good family Columbia river beach

This weekend is going to be hot so we're looking at taking the kids to play on a sandy beach along the Columbia. When I was a kid we played on Sauvies Island while springer fishing, but that's a long drive from Happy Valley now. What family beach would you recommend?

Chinook Landing area?

Good luck finding any sand, with the flows as high as they are, beach will be hard to find.
Even Government Is. is very sparse at this time.
Perhaps Sand Is. at St Helens might have some sand showing?

I noticed yesterday that the water was now out of the trees on Gov't Island's north east side just down from Chinook Landing. Hitting the bottom end of Gov't Is out of 42nd street, there is plenty of sand there, but not much shade.

Sand Island right off of St. helens is a good bet if you have a boat. It think there is some primitive restrooms there to, plenty of sand.
